Clinical Education

All Optometry students are posted and get training in the various diagnostic and therapeutic fields of Optometry. Students are trained extensively in contact lenses, low vision aids, vision therapy, Orthoptics, Paediatric Clinics, computer vision clinic and all diagnostic procedures like Biometry, Visual Field Analysis, and Corneal Topography, OCT, FFA. During the final year of the program, every student has the opportunity to examine at least 1,000 patients in the OPD alone under the supervision of senior Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. Students also get an opportunity to do vision screening for school children, cataract screening for the aged, Diabetic project.
In 2010 alone, we screened 8000 school students in association to Gujarat government project, around 148,935 people were screened for Diabetes and its ocular manifestation under banner of Samvedna Eye care for Diabetes, Ahmedabad constellate with Denmark since 2007 and around 10,000 patients were treated for diabetic retinopathy, around 15,000 screened for cataract and operated  at Shri. C.H.Nagri Municipal Eye Hospital.
In terms of the clinical exposure, our optometrists have an edge over the others as they are attached to and undergo extensive training from Shri. C.H.Nagri Municipal Eye Hospital, Ahmedabad, India, a tertiary eye care and referral hospital.
Students have compulsory posting with Sanjeevani Health and Relief committee which cadre for total check-up in remote villages of Gujarat. 
Students are also posted at eye departments of various hospitals in and around Ahmedabad for training; hospitals like L.G.General hospital, Shardaben General Hospital, Sabarmati Referral Hospital,.
Final Year Students are posted for six months of their internship at renowned optical outlets like Nagar Chasmaghar, Pandya Optician, Kohinoor Opticals, Optical MNC`s for their training in different aspects of optical business and management.
