“My journey as an optometrist has been nothing short of transformative. From the early days of learning to use a retinoscope to now contributing to research in pediatric myopia and cognitive development, the profession has allowed me to grow not just clinically, but personally and intellectually. Optometry has given me the opportunity to impact lives—whether through a simple vision correction that brings clarity to someone’s world or through my current research aimed at improving children’s quality of life by addressing visual and cognitive development. Each patient I meet, each case I handle, and every student I mentor deepens my understanding of how essential and transformative eye care truly is. Having progressed from a Bachelor’s to a Master’s and now pursuing a PhD focused on the interplay between myopia progression and cognitive development in children, I feel a strong commitment to advancing evidence-based care. What inspires me most is the dynamic nature of optometry—a field where science and empathy intersect, and even small interventions can have lifelong impact. I’m proud to be part of a global community that values vision, innovation, and compassion. For me, optometry is not just a profession—it’s my purpose and passion.”

“My journey in optometry has been deeply rooted in service, education, and a drive to uplift those with visual impairment. After earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Nagar School of Optometry, Gujarat University, it is a matter of immense pride to now serve as a Visiting Lecturer at the same institution and as a Consultant Optometrist at Shree C.H. Nagri Eye Hospital—the place where my journey began and where I now contribute to patient care and clinical training. Specializing in low vision rehabilitation, I’ve had the privilege to assist thousands of individuals across Gujarat. My clinical journey has been enriched by achievements such as the Research Presentation Award at the ASCON International Optometry Conference 2022, and being recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). A particularly meaningful honor was receiving the “Outstanding and Exemplary Efforts towards the Upliftment of the Special Needs Sector” award by Vishalwin Foundation. This recognition, presented in the esteemed presence of Surat Mayor Shree Daxesh Mavani, IPS Shree Vijay Singh Gurjar, and Social Defence Officers, reinforces my dedication to making a difference. From conducting workshops to presenting at national and international platforms, my goal remains constant: to empower patients and inspire the next generation of optometrists. Optometry has given me more than a career—it has given me purpose. I remain committed to empowering lives through better vision.”

Optometry started as a way to help others and soon became my true passion. Every day, I’m thankful for the chance to enhance lives by bringing clarity and comfort to my patients’ vision.

As I’ve grown in this field, I’ve also developed a special interest in advanced diagnostics, particularly in areas like binocular vision anomalies and corneal topography. These challenges keep me inspired to keep learning and innovating in my approach to patient care.”

Jainisha Ajudiya

“Pursuing my post-graduation at Nagar School of Optometry was a defining step in my career.

The strong clinical training, expert faculty, and supportive environment helped me grow both professionally and personally. It provided not only academic excellence and clinical expertise, but also instilled in me a deeper sense of purpose as a healthcare provider.

I’m proud to be an alumna of an institution that laid such a solid foundation for my journey as a clinical optometrist and specialty contact lens practitioner.”

Khushbu B. More

“My journey in optometry began in 2013 when I joined Nagar School of Optometry as a Bachelor of Optometry student. Those formative years laid the foundation of not only my clinical knowledge but also my values as a healthcare professional. With a growing interest in vision science and patient care, I went on to pursue my Master’s in Optometry from the same institute.

One of the most defining aspects of my journey has been the unwavering support and guidance of the dedicated faculty at Nagar School of Optometry. Their mentorship, encouragement, and high standards of academic and clinical training have played a pivotal role in shaping me into the professional I am today. I will always remain grateful for their contribution in helping me discover my potential.

After completing my post-graduation, I transitioned into the academic field. Being an educator allows me to give back to the community by mentoring the next generation of optometrists. It’s truly rewarding to be a part of their growth, just as my mentors were part of mine.

Optometry for me is more than a profession—it’s a lifelong passion. And I am proud to be contributing to a field that impacts lives every single day.”

Arpit Trivedi

“Optometry began as a subject of curiosity for me — but it quickly became a calling. Studying at Nagar School, Gujarat University for both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees not only shaped my clinical foundation but gave me the confidence to dream bigger and pursue excellence beyond the classrooms.

In each phase of my journey, I’ve had the opportunity to take on diverse roles — from establishing a Specialty Contact Lens Clinic at Occura Eyecare Hospital to designing training modules for optometrists and sales professionals, while also serving as an Optometrist Consultant at the leading retail chain, R. Kumar Opticians. It taught me that our field is just as much about human connection as it is about vision care.

Today, in my role as a Professional Service Executive at Menicon India Pvt. Ltd., I have the privilege of conducting training and educational programs across India for fellow professionals, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of contact lenses.

What inspires me every day is seeing how a well-fitted lens can change someone’s life — and how a well-trained Optometrist can uplift eye care standards for an entire community.

To students: let your passion for eye care guide you. Optometry offers endless paths — clinical, academic, research, or industry — all with the power to make a difference. I’m proud of this journey and hope it sparks yours too.”

Anjali Ahuja

As an Optometrist, my passion lies in delivering patient-centered eye care that enhances not just vision, but overall quality of life. What began as a fascination with the science of sight has grown into a lifelong commitment to protecting and nurturing one of our most precious senses—vision.

True eye care goes far beyond prescriptions. It’s about educating patients, earning their trust, and making sure they feel truly seen, heard, and cared for.

For me, Optometry isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling. It’s about healing, serving, and helping people experience the world with clarity and confidence. Every day, I feel grateful to play a part in someone’s journey to better vision.

I am especially grateful to our principal, Dr. Reema Raval, whose constant guidance, motivation, and support played a significant role in shaping my professional foundation. I would also like to sincerely thank Dr. Atanu Samanata, who served as my research guide. “My journey as an optometrist has been deeply fulfilling, both professionally and personally. From the moment I began my studies, I was fascinated by the complexity of the human eye and the crucial role vision plays in quality of life. Early in my career, I encountered a wide variety of cases—from routine eye exams to detecting serious ocular and systemic conditions—which reinforced the importance of our role in preventative healthcare.

Over time, I have grown not only in clinical expertise but also in patient care and communication. Each patient brings a unique story, and building trust with them has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. Helping someone see clearly for the first time, managing chronic eye conditions, or detecting diseases that require urgent attention—all these moments have underscored the impact we have on individual lives.

Continuous learning has also been a cornerstone of my journey. Advancements in technology and research keep the field dynamic, and I’m constantly inspired to update my knowledge and skills to provide the best care possible.

What inspires me most is the opportunity to make a tangible difference every day, knowing that even small interventions can profoundly improve someone’s wellbeing.”

” M.Optom Batch 2013

I have been practicing in Dubai since the last 5 years. My roles have included being a clinician as well as an educational speaker. As a practicing optometrist, I always recollect the training I received at Nagar School of Optometry. 6 years at this institution were full of thorough learning, continuous work at the hospital and a lot of fun-filled time with friends. We were encouraged to participate in national and international optometry conferences from as early as our first year. That’s where I discovered the vast expanse of subspecialties within the field of optometry; where proud optometrists would share their knowledge. I had the opportunity of directly evaluating thousands of patients and becoming proficient in all areas of optometric patient care. Our faculties facilitated lectures by many guest speakers renowned in the optometry fraternity of India.

Having been practicing outside India, I have understood that background verifications are ought to happen by any foreign optometry board I choose to register for. NSO has been and will be there to provide support for it. I know that I am always welcome at NSO, my alma mater.”
