What is Optometry?
Optometry is a vital healthcare field dedicated to visual health and eye care. Optometrists serve as primary eye care professionals who examine eyes, diagnose visual conditions, prescribe corrective glasses and contact lenses, and offer specialized non-surgical therapies.
All programs strictly follow the competency-based guidelines set by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, ensuring high-quality academic and clinical training.
Undergraduate Program: Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom)
The Bachelor of Optometry is a 5-year full-time degree program structured into 10 semester terms (8 academic semesters followed by a 2-semester compulsory rotating internship).

The Master of Optometry is a 2-year full-time advanced degree designed for B.Optom graduates seeking clinical specialization, research opportunities, or academic roles.

For Internship
- 6 months Clinical Internship : Shri C.H. Nagri Eye municipal hospital and Shardaben Municipal Hospital, Ahmedabad
- 6 months Optical Internship : At Various renowned Optical outlets in Ahmedabad decided by the Management and Gujarat University.
In terms of community eye health exposure, students are posted at Sanjeevani Health and Relief committee which cadre for total check-up in remote villages of Gujarat and also various camps arranged by Nagri Municipal Hospital and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Research Thesis is compulsory to submit at the end of Internship.
